Lonnell L. is a Metro Detroit-based percussionist and educator who brings a wealth
of real-world experience to his private lessons. A graduate of Wayne State University’s
Music program, Lonnell’s journey began in the church and has since evolved into a
versatile career spanning modern rock, jazz-fusion, and session work.
As an active member of the Detroit music scene, Lonnell’s teaching is deeply informed
by his life as a working musician. He specializes in helping students of all levels master
the essentials—timing, technique, and reading—while keeping lessons focused on
individual goals. Whether you’re picking up sticks for the first time or preparing for the
