Jake M.
Jake M. is a professional and versatile drummer known for his technical skill and engaging stage presence. Starting at age 10, Jake's passion for drumming quickly developed, leading him to a career performing professionally since he was 16. In 2017, he earned a BA in Music from Wayne State University, concentrating in music business and jazz drum set. Jake has performed with a variety of artists and explored diverse genres, from the high energy of rock and metal to the delicate complexities of jazz and classical music. He has also been a featured guest on the Detroit Drummer's Podcast and was a finalist in the 2025 The Loving Touch “Beat Off” Drum Contest.
Jake performs regularly with bands throughout the Metro-Detroit area and works as a touring and session musician, recording for artists on albums associated with labels like Mack Avenue Records. As an entrepreneur, he owns and operates Jake Matthews Drums, a business specializing in custom cymbal repair and modification. In addition to his busy performance and business schedule, Jake is a dedicated music educator who provides private lessons. He draws influence from legendary drummers like Travis Barker, John Bonham, Luke Holland, and Brian Blade.
